F.A.Q.
Q. What is Geefter?
Geefter makes it easy and fun to organize a group gift for a friend, family member or someone in need. Use Geefter for organizing group gifts for weddings, birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries, office gifts, etc..
Q. How does it work?
You create a Geeft by telling us who the gift is for, what you are gifting, and how much the gift costs. If you need the gift by a certain date be sure to enter that in too. Upon creating a Geeft you will be asked to sign up by either creating a Geefter account or using your
Facebook login. Once you have signed up you will be taken to your Geeft where you can invite as many friends as you like. You will also have the option to share pictures, commments, and contribute financially to the gift.
Geefter utilizes PayPal to collect all the micro payments. The Geeft expires when the end date is reached. If the financial goal is reached before the end date the organizer has the option to close
the Geeft early. All participants will receive an email at the end of the Geeft summarizing the event. The organizer will receive an additional notification with instructions
detailing how to close out the Geeft: Geefter will need to know how the organizer wants to recveive the gift.
Q. What is a Geeft?
A Geeft is like a gift but much more. A Geeft is the event that takes place when someone organizes a group gift. It includes all the comments, pictures, and financial contributions.
Geefter sends out invitations and sends the gift.
Q. What are the invitations for?
When a Geeft is created you can invite as many people as you so desire to participate in the event. To participate in a Geeft is referred to as "Geefting". And if you are Geefting you are a Geefter!
Q. Who is the Geefter?
Everyone in the specific Geefter community is a Geefter!
Q. How do I prticipate in a Geeft?
You can leave comments, upload pictures, personal recordings, and finally contribute financially to the Geeft.
Q. Who is the Geeftee?
The person receiving the Geeft is the Geeftee. An email will be sent to the Geeftee.
Q. Do I have to give money to a Geeft?
No. You do not. And if you do decide to contribute money to the Geeft
it is anonymous. The money indicator at the top of the Geeft will increase
to include the amount you contributed. That's it. If you do want the
person to know that you contributed you can always write a comment saying so.
Q. How do I start?
Click here to start a Geeft.
Q. I've created my Geeft so what now?
Once your Geeft is created you take the opportunity to announce to all your Facebook friends that you create a geeft! Invite your firends. Add pictures, comments, and a personal recording to make the Geeft more meaningful.
Q. When does the Geeft end?
A Geeft ends on the date you requested when you first created it. At the end of the event an email is sent out to all participants summarizing the event.
Q. I am the Geeftee. How do I retrieve the funds on my Geeft?
At the ned of each Geeft the person receiving the Geeft will receive an email with two links. (1)The first link is for those who want to deposit the funds into their PayPal account.
Once clicked, you will be directed to PayPal's website where your money can be retrieved. You must have a PayPal account to obtain your funds. If you do not have a PayPal account you will need to create one.
(2)If you don't want to create a PayPal account you can click on the second link.
You will be asked to fill out a form with the details about where the check is to be sent and so forth.
Q. Does Geefter buy the gift?
Geefter does not automatically buy the gift. When you create the Geeft you have to check the box that indicates you want Geefter to buy the gift. There is a 3%
service fee that we charge and you need to agree to this by checking the box. If you did check the box then a 3% service fee is calculated and added to the goal amount. Geefter
will find the gift online and conduct the transation. The service fee does not include shipping costs; you need to figure that into the goal amount. Geefter does not ship the gift.
The gift is shipped by the merchant Geefter purchased the gift from.
